Performance
Performance is the main distinguishing factor between these vehicles. The Outlander PHEV is a Plug-In Hybrid Vehicle, whereas the Outlander has a traditional combustion engine. But let’s talk a little bit about what that really means for your everyday travels. There are many trim levels for the 2024 Outlander, but all of them include a 2.5L 4-cylinder engine that achieves 181-hp and 181 lb.-ft. of torque. You do have the option to choose Super All-Wheel Control, which will impact your average fuel economy slightly, but not dramatically, with up to 24/31 MPG city/hwy1. The Outlander PHEV combines a 2.4L 4-cylinder engine with twin electric motors and a battery system that can be charged using electricity. You’ll still be able to stop at the gas station for fuel on the way to the Oklahoma City National Museum like you would with the Outlander, but you can also charge the vehicle in your garage to access a combined driving range of 420 miles2 and an estimated 64 MPGe2.
Interior Space and Comfort Features
Both the 2024 Outlander and 2024 Outlander PHEV have three rows of seating to accommodate up to seven passengers at once. Both also offer busy families flexibility with split-folding third row seats. You may be surprised to see that the Outlander PHEV offers slightly more maximum cargo space at 64.7 cubic ft. of room compared to the 64.3 cubic ft. of maximum cargo space in the Outlander. The Outlander PHEV has 122.9 cubic ft. of passenger space and the Outlander has 125.5 cubic ft. of passenger space. Everyone will be able to sit back and relax after a day at Lake Hefner with the tri-zone climate control, semi-aniline leather upholstery, and heated rear seats available on both vehicles.
Technology Features
If you’re interested in technology, both of these vehicles are great options. They feature top-notch connectivity tools, including a 12.3-inch Full Digital Driver Display, 9-inch navigation system with smartphone connectivity, and a wireless smartphone charging pad. You will notice that these features come standard with the 2024 Outlander PHEV as opposed to available in most trim of the 2024 Outlander, but that is also reflected in the different starting MSRP for these vehicles.
