How to Find an EV Charging Station in Oklahoma City, OK

Have you recently purchased an EV or PHEV? Then you might be unfamiliar with EV stations and the charging process. At David Stanley Mitsubishi we've prepared this overview on the ways you can find an EV charging station near you with the help of your vehicle and all other technology available to you.

Touchscreen and Apps

Most modern vehicles come with touchscreen displays that you can connect your phone to. When you do so, you have access to smartphone applications. These will give you access to saved destinations and if you use the maps feature on your device, often you can type in EV charging stations and some will pop up at their nearest proximity to you. If you don’t use the maps feature on your phone, you can always download apps from the application store and find other ways of finding a charging station near you. Finally, if you’re not using your phone and would rather do research on your computer before you leave home, you can always check the U.S. Department of Energy’s website to see the latest charging locations available in real time all throughout the country, not just in your area of residence.

Charging Levels

There are three main charging levels available, with the first being Level 1. Often, when you buy your EV or PHEV, you will be given a cable that you can connect from your home outlet to your car. This takes the longest to bring your model to full capacity but lets you replenish the battery at peace within the comfort of your home using your already-existing power grid. The second option is level 2 charging. This can also be done from home with at-home factory-installed charging stations or from public locations. Level 1 and Level 2 charging are the least harmful for your vehicle, as they pass current through an alternator before reaching the battery. Level 3, or DC fast charging, will inject energy directly into your cell, thus charging it the quickest. This can be used in emergencies but should not be done constantly to maintain the integrity of your battery. Our techs can help you with its maintenance when it’s due time at our Service Department

Public Charging Stations

Most public locations have charging stations. You might have seen some near you in a grocery store, outside of malls, movie theaters, or near universities. They’re often Level 2 chargers, as stated above, and will bring your car to 80 percent in a time frame of five to eight hours. You can simply connect your car to the station and go about your day either grocery shopping, attending class, or watching a movie marathon at your local cinema. Whatever the case may be, you will rest assured knowing your car will be back to its full driving range in no time. If you have any questions, you can always contact our David Stanley Mitsubishi team for more information.

As much of a nervous wreck that I was, the salesman Neil put a lot of my worries to rest, and made my whole car buying experience a lot easier than I expected. He answered every single question I had quickly, but made sure that I fully understood the answers before we moved on. I really appreciate all of his patience with me.
